Hey, I’m Doug.

Welcome to Day As A Dad. I’m just an ordinary dad trying to build an extraordinary life for my family.

My journey into fatherhood began in 2016 when I became a dad for the first time. Our family grew again in 2017, then life got even more exciting with another child in 2024, followed by twins in 2026. Five kids later, I’ve learned one thing: every day brings a new challenge, and every day is another opportunity to become a better husband, father, and man.

By night, I work long shifts that often mean sacrificing sleep, missing holidays, and finding creative ways to balance work with family life. It isn’t glamorous, and it isn’t always easy, but providing for my wife and kids has always been worth the struggle.

When I’m not at work, you’ll usually find me building something. I’ve always been a DIY guy. Whether it’s remodeling parts of our home, fixing cars, building decks, learning a new trade, or taking on projects I’ve never done before, I enjoy figuring things out. Sometimes everything goes according to plan. Sometimes I discover three new ways not to do something before getting it right. Either way, I believe every project teaches something valuable.

This blog is where all of those worlds come together. You’ll find stories about fatherhood, home improvement, money-saving ideas, tools, projects, lessons learned the hard way, and the everyday victories and failures that come with raising a family. I’m not an expert. I’m not pretending to have all the answers. I’m simply documenting the journey of becoming the husband, father, and provider my family deserves. Everything I do has one goal: To build the best life possible for my wife and kids.
